| All wedding ceremonies organised by us, Tiara Cyprus Weddings will be conducted in English. All paperwork including the Marriage Certificate, (which is fully recognised in the United Kingdom), will be issued in English. Before viewing our list of requirements below, please be aware that the Town Hall will only accept original documents (photocopies are not accepted) We have included a short and detailed version of the documents that you will require for your beautiful wedding here, in Cyprus. Cyprus Law requires both the Bride and Groom to be in Cyprus for at least 5 (five) working days before your wedding can take place. From here-on, Tiara Cyprus Weddings, will be known as T.C.W in the following context Birth Certificates Both the originals and one photocopy are required for both the Bride & Groom. Passports You will require a full 10 year passport with at least 3 months remaining following your return date. Both the Bride and Groom will need to present clear copies of the photograph page of their passports Cyprus Law requires two witnesses. With regards to the same rules as listed above. (if necessary T.C.W can supply these witnesses for you here in Cyprus) Decree Absolute This is only required if either party has been married previously. This has to be the original document Affidavits Please note that separate affidavits are required for both Bride & Groom. An affidavit is a declaration of being single, from both parties' country(s) of origin. These declarations (or affidavits) can be obtained from the Registry Office / Parish Registry, the Ministry of the Interior (Home Office) or Foreign Ministry (Foreign Office) of their countries or even from their Embassies. The documents must be translated into Greek or English. Applicants who are holders of UK passports can obtain their affidavits in resort at a charge of approximately 2 CYP per person, from the Supreme Court. for further advice & information, including Government Office opening hours Special Licence and Form B You will require either, a Special Licence or a Form B Licence. (T.C.W. will arrange this as part of our package) The Special Licence is issued by the Ministry of the Interior of Cyprus to allow couples to become married on the island. The 'Form B' is required for all marriages outside of the Municipality Office, i.e. in a church or an hotel Certificates of Thalassaemia Cypriots wishing to have a civil wedding must produce Thalassaemia certificates either from a state or private doctor. For Teenagers For teenagers under 18 years of age, all persons who have completed their 16th year of age can be allowed to marry only with their parents’ or legal guardians’ agreement. A written consent (in the form of an affidavit stamped by a solicitor) to this effect, must therefore be presented which must be obtained from your own country, which must also be translated and signed. In the event that there are no legal guardians, then the consent of the Supreme Court of Cyprus is needed. Please note, that the written consent is made in the presence of the Mayor. FURTHER INFORMATION Church Ceremony Please note, that an Anglican Ceremony Baptism Certificate is required for at least one of either the Bride or the Groom You must remember to bring with you a Confirmation Form, which states that you have been attending your local church of choice. Alternatively, a Catholic Ceremony Baptism Certificate is required for both the Bride and Groom. Death Certificate This is only required if either party has been widowed. A copy of the previous Marriage Certificate will also be required in this instance. Persons living in Cyprus New regulations state: All persons living here in Cyprus for more than 8 months and/or are holders of a residential or work permit (pink slip) or for persons marrying Cypriots must, obtain (apart from the paperwork mentioned above) a Confirmation of Being Single/Divorced Certificate, which is issued by the Ministry of Interior Nicosia. In order to apply for this certificate, you first need an affidavit signed and counter-signed by the Supreme Court in Cyprus, which needs to be taken together with your passport, residential permit (pink slip) and your partner’s passport. The cost of the above certificate is 20.00 CYP & can take up to 14 working days to be issued. |
